Celebrate DSP Recognition Week with KAPP at our 2nd Annual Conference!

In Kentucky, we have requested that Governor Bevin sign the proclamation

Join KAPP & ANCOR in recognizing the dedication and accomplishments of outstanding Direct Support Professionals and expressing our appreciation for their vital contribution to communities across the country. We’ve provided these resources to help you celebrate in your organization and your community.

The awards recognition luncheon will be held at the conclusion of KAPP’s Annual Conference on Friday September 16, 2016 – Marriott East Hotel in Louisville.

Winners will receive individual recognition and awards and will be recommended to apply for the national ANCOR DSP Awards!  Our very first state winner, Joshua Alford of Independent Opportunities, went on to WIN the National DSP of the Year Award and was honored at the ANCOR Conference in Chicago in May 2016!

KAPP will choose 2 Winners from each of the 4 defined regions (below) and
award 1 overall State Winner.

Regions:
KAPP members have been divided among 4 geographical regions:

Western Region  – Daviess, Hardin, Henderson, Hopkins, Marshall, Warren

Louisville Region  – Jefferson

Northern/Central Region  – Boone, Clark, Fayette, Franklin, Jessamine, Kenton, Madison, Oldham, Scott, Washington, Woodford

Southern/Eastern Region – Boyd, Boyle, Laurel, Perry, Pike, Pulaski, Rowan, Taylor, Wayne
Member Agencies:
There will be 1 nomination accepted from each KAPP Member (per provider#.)

Selection Committee:
KAPP’s Board of Directors will review nominations with the name of your organization redacted from the application, in an effort to ensure each DSP is reviewed on their own merits.

Confidentiality:
KAPP requests that the nomination does not contain information that could be used to identify the person served, including the person’s name.

Shannon McCracken is a leader when it comes to supporting the needs of people with developmental and intellectual disabilities. After a decade of experience at the two largest SCL agencies in Kentucky, she made the decision to embrace a new opportunity and start her own company, Commonwealth Case Management. While in the field, Shannon has won numerous national awards and served in multiple leadership positions, most recently with the Kentucky Association of Private Providers (KAPP). From November 2009 - 2012, she served as the Vice-President of Public Policy for the KAPP Board of Directors and served as President from 2012-2015. In 2016, KAPP made a significant investment in its future and offered Shannon a full-time position as the State Executive Director. Being so involved has enabled Shannon to stay at the leading edge and have a great understanding of what it takes to support people with disabilities.

Shannon is a graduate of Western Kentucky University...wife to Tony, mom to Davis (19) & Caroline (17.)
